Everyone has a dream to feel special; maybe it’s the dream to win an award, the dream to get high test scores, or the dream to join a team. But for teenage boys running, tackling, and bear-hugging their fellow teenage boys on the field, it is the dream to be recognized. This year, Valor Christian High School has been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be interviewed by CBS. Even better, the game this Friday (today) is going to be streamed on CBS Colorado, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Football Fridays. Starting this week, CBS has decided to stream high school football games happening in the state of Colorado. Football Fridays will be done through a partnership with FanVu. To kick start the newly created segment is the game between Valor Eagles and Regis Jesuit Raiders.
In addition to CBS coming to stream tonight’s Valor football game, they have interviewed the flag football players and the coach. Keane Hazelrigs, a senior stated that she finds flag football as a way of getting people to “get out there” and to break stereotypes in the predominantly male sport (CBS).
To see how much this will affect the football players from Valor for this game we decided to ask some of the varsity players how they feel about it.
The first interviewee was Cash Spence, a junior who plays wide receiver. Spence told us that “ our team is really strong and believes in each other so I think there is no way we won’t get it done”. He also said in the interview that regardless of CBS streaming, he “feels no different” and will “come in the same way and get the same result as last week”. Another varsity football player, Kannon Smith, a junior who plays offense lineman and defense lineman, feels that CBS at the scene will be a “great opportunity for the boys in Colorado to get their name out after playing well”. The last person we interviewed, Lincoln Kirk, who is also another junior and plays wide receiver, mentioned that he is “excited” and that CBS coming to stream the game will be an “exciting opportunity for some of his teammates to be highlighted and maybe be really seen”.
As the game approaches, we hope that through God’s blessing and their dedication they will win the game tonight.
