The outfits, the dinners, the dances, the games. Whether you are a female or male, the day when you can finally attend prom is an ever-reaching dream in your teenage mind. Originating sometime in the 19th century, the promenade events hosted in the Ivy League Institutions set themselves as a formal event. Eventually, those promenade events in the 20th century evolved into the modern-day American Prom as a rite of passage between the last moments of childhood and the future of adulthood. Although the meaning behind prom has continuously changed over the years, there is one thing that has stayed the same. And that is the quality time students are able to spend with their friends or loved ones.
Every year the Prom Committee at Valor attempts to achieve a prom theme that is different and possibly better than the last. This time, the theme that is being displayed offers a spectacularity of lights, cameras, and actions. Introducing the Oscars. Charlie Disbrow, the VP of College Counseling tells us that while choosing a prom theme, the main focus is to find something that will work well for both the STUCO and the school. After a long process of voting, the upperclassmen of student leadership ended up choosing this theme which they felt encapsulates class and elegance, all while having a celebratory feel. Nora Frazier, a long-time participant of Valor Student Leadership and former 2026 Student Body President Candidate, hopes that this theme will put a different spin on it in comparison to the other themes done before.
It is known to everyone that there are two sessions of prom. The before and after prom. As the before part of the Prom has just recently ended, it is better if we tell you the details of the after prom. Justin Nam, the Student Leadership Coordinator, says that they plan on incorporating the Oscars theme in the after-prom by hosting an “after party”. This after-party will be hosted by the Valor Parent Organization at Main Event where multiple games will be occurring which you can get prizes from.
With prom being less than a day away, we hope that everyone attending will have a memorable time of their lives which they will cherish forever in their hearts
